Welcome to Tonbridge Model Railway Club

Tonbridge Model Railway Club was formed by a small band of local modellers in 1980 and has evolved over the last 36 years to become the thriving club it is today.

On this website, you will find details of the club, our annual exhibition and layouts owned by both the club and its members.

We currently have four layouts as well as an N and OO gauge test tracks. The four layouts include two under construction which are a new OO gauge layout based on the Southern around Salisbury, with a lovely kit built flyover, and Ashdown Park which is another OO gauge Southern layout and is a terminus coming off a fictional line from Horsted Keynes.

Our two operational exhibition layouts are Westerham, which is a Southern O gauge layout based on the original branch line terminus. This layout has been a real success story for the club since it was built proving popular with both the club members and the public. The other exhibition layout is Wittenden, a narrow gauge layout based in the Weald of Kent.
This layout has two gauges of railway running through it, including an 0-16.5mm size.

Tonbridge MRC seeks a new home

After some 30 years in the same premises Tonbridge Model Railway Club finds itself in need of a new home.

We are a friendly club of 50 members and prior to the lockdown we met once a week, traditionally on a Thursday evening, to build model railways, have talks and socialise.

We are also the organisers of the very popular annual Tonbridge model railway exhibition, which but for the pandemic would have reached its 40th show in February 2021.

If you can assist with a venue for us to meet and store our layouts, please contact us. We will be happy to hear from you. Find us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram or drop us an email to tonbridgemrc@yahoo.co.uk or call club secretary Jon Gettens on 01959 523 840.
Thank you.
